Hemera Hair Extensions

Hemera Hair extensions are a means of adding additional hair to your natural hair. There are two different methods of application – Tapes and Kertain Bonds.

Hair extensions are applied to enhance the appearance of your natural hair. They can be used to add any combination of length, thickness and body, and colour. Hair colour can be customised and a mix of shades can be blended to create a beautiful custom colour.

There are some scalp conditions which are unfortunately not compatible with hair extensions e.g. psoriasis, eczema, etc. However, the severity of these conditions can vary greatly from individual to individual and can be assessed at your consultation.

All the hair used by Hemera is cuticle correct, Remy hair. The term ‘Remy’ means that all the hair strands are running in the same direction – from root to tip.  If any of the hair is running in the wrong direction – tip to root – the unaligned cuticles will cause friction and the hair will be knotty, matted and totally unmanageable.

Your stylist can apply as few extensions as you need to achieve the look you want. Hair extensions can also just be applied to a specific area, such as at the sides. The possibilities are endless.

Tape-in extensions

Generally considered a more low-maintenance salon option, these wide, flat sections of human hair are applied via an adhesive strip, last for about 6-8 weeks and have speedier application and removal than bonded extensions. Hair colour can be customised and a mix of shades can be blended to create a beautiful custom colour.

Tapes do require careful maintenance, which, if you’ve never had anything but your own hair on top, will take a bit of getting used to. You won’t be able to wash your hair for the first 48 hours after application, and after that very gentle washing with oill free and sulfate-free shampoo is a must. The oil bit is particularly crucial—you’ll need to stay away from all oil-based haircare as it’ll dissolve the adhesive and your tape might slide off into your hand. You can dye your extensions if you like (as long as the colorant isn’t oil-based) brushing should be regular but ultra-slow and gentle. Hemera Vented HairBrush comes highly recommended for extensions.

Depending on how well you care for them and how quickly your hair grows, the tapes will need refitted every six to eight weeks. After four weeks you may well see the top of the tapes begin to move away from your roots. Then it’s your choice whether to have them removed, or re-applied for another six weeks.

Kertain Bond Extensions

Pre-bonded Hemera Hair Extensions are a professional extension method where the hair is pre-tipped onto a keratin formula, once melted, the keratin cools and fuses into a solid bond onto the hair which will last for months and can only be removed with a hair extension remover and specialist tools. As pre-bonded extensions are applied in individual strands, hair colour can be customised and a mix of shades can be blended to create a beautiful custom colour. Pre-bonded hair extensions are a salon favourite due to the durability of the method, once applied by one of our extension specialists, keratin bonded extensions can last up to 3 months.

If you are unsure which extensions are better for you book a complimentary consultation with one of our extension specialists.
